In West Africa, Erikshjälpen works through local partners in Burkina Faso, Mali and Benin. The work in the region is broad, but with a particular focus on the right to education and safety and protection.

In West Africa, our work is linked to all our Thematic areas: the right to education and leisure, health, and safety and protection. Humanitarian assistance and disaster risk reduction are also part of our work in West Africa. We work together with local partner organisations with an integrated approach.

Political uncertainty and climate-related crises

All areas of the region are affected by climate change, with recurrent droughts being the main challenge. We are working to strengthen people's resilience to climate-related crises such as droughts and floods. Another challenge in the region is political insecurity, linked to armed conflict.

Our work is based at our Regional offices the capital, Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso, but we have staff in both Mali and Benin.
