Whistle blowing

Whistle blowing allows workers, volunteers and trainees in work-related contexts to report violations and serious misconduct that are of such a nature that the public has an interest in their detection and stopping.

Erikshjälpen's policy for Feedback, complaints and Whistle blowing contains information on how we as an organization handle these cases. The Swedish Work Environment Authority has more information about the Whistleblowing Act.

What is Whistle blowing?

Whistle blowing is used to draw an organization's attention to serious wrongdoing that is of such a nature that the public has an interest in its detection and stopping.

For example, whistleblower alarms can be messy:

  • Unethical conduct; for example, breaches of our Code of Conduct
  • Corruption and financial irregularities; for example, bribery, unfair competition, money laundering and fraud
  • Crimes related to health and safety; for example, health and safety crimes
  • Environmental crime; for example, illegal handling of hazardous waste
  • Privacy breaches; for example, misuse of personal data

Whistleblowers must not be prevented from reporting wrongdoing and must be protected from retaliation. There should be the possibility to report anonymously.

Who can blow the whistle?

The whistleblower must have experienced or discovered the misconduct in a work-related context. The whistleblower must belong to one of the following categories of persons:

  • Employees at Erikshjälpen or Erikshjälpen Second Hand
  • Job seekers
  • Self-employed persons
  • Members of the administrative, management or supervisory bodies
  • Trainee in store
  • Volunteer in store
  • In another professional relationship with Erikshjälpen or Erikshjälpen Second Hand

*Employees also include agency staff and staff of contractors, suppliers and partners.

When should the function not be used?

It is not intended for more general Feedback on, for example, leadership, work environment or business planning. It is also not suitable for reporting sensitive HR issues linked to single individuals. If you do not feel comfortable talking to your manager or your manager's manager, you can contact your HR function or a trade union representative directly.

If your case does not fall under Whistle blowing , there is the possibility to leave Feedback or complaints.

Your notification should include the following information:

  • Your name and contact details (optional, you can remain anonymous)
  • What kind of misconduct have you noticed?
  • Where did it take place?
  • When did it happen? Indicate the date and time and if it is a recurring event.
  • If you have documents, pictures or other evidence, you can send them along.
