Shamin has had to move several times
Shamin lives on Batikamari Island in Bangladesh. He is 12 years old and attends the school supported by Erikshjälpen. So far, he and his family have had to move several times due to soil erosion and flooding.
My family and I are sad when we have to move. The land mass we lived on was destroyed by soil erosion
The island of Batikamari is located in the Jamuna River delta. As soon as you step ashore here, you'll notice that the river's waters control the conditions on the island. It's clear from the ground that it was once a riverbed not so long ago - and all it takes is a little rain to start changing the landscape with new channels.

Out on Batikamari, the landscape is constantly changing. But knowing that the school will always be there is a comfort for the children who live there. Education is the most effective remedy for child marriage and child labor.
