Vote for the children in the general election

We are now urging you to vote for the children—and the world they dream of. Here you’ll find a summary of Erikshjälpen’s 2026 election platform ahead of the parliamentary election in September.

The Rights of Every Child

Every child has the right to a safe childhood, a sustainable future, and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. But the reality is different—both in Sweden and around the world. Children are disproportionately affected by climate change, grow up in insecurity, and are impacted by political decisions that all too often fail to take children’s perspectives into account.

Erikshjälpen's Election Platform – In Brief

The election manifesto outlines four key issues that we want policymakers to prioritize in order to strengthen children’s rights, reduce inequality, and contribute to sustainable development—in Sweden and around the world.

Sätt barnen i centrum för klimatpolitiken

Children are hardest hit by the climate crisis, but their needs and rights are given too little consideration in political decision-making. Erikshjälpen wants to see a bold climate transition in which the children’s perspective is integrated into both decision-making and Funding, and in which children are given the opportunity to participate.

Strengthen children's right to a safe and equitable upbringing

In Sweden, we are seeing growing disparities in the conditions under which children and young people grow up. Erikshjälpen wants policymakers to prioritize preventive interventions for young people and strengthen support for families. Civil society should be included as a key player that can give children and young people the opportunity to participate.

Accelerate the circular transition

Today’s consumption patterns are driving both the climate crisis and inequality. Erikshjälpen calls for clearer policy guidance and investments that accelerate the transition to a “ circular economy ” and reduce harmful overconsumption.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers About Erikshjälpen's Political Stances

Erikshjälpen is nonpartisan, but not apolitical. We take a stand on issues concerning children’s rights and in situations where we see that the children’s rights perspective is lacking.

This means that we highlight problems, propose solutions, and engage in dialogue with policymakers at the local, national, and global levels. Our focus is always on what is best for children—not on party politics.

We do not believe that issues concerning children’s rights are a matter of the political right or left. Children’s rights are human rights and must be protected regardless of political ideology.

Our positions are based on children’s needs and rights, not on the political spectrum. This may mean that our proposals sometimes align closely with the policies of various political parties—but our mission remains the same: to contribute to decisions that make a real difference for children.

Erikshjälpen is a nonpartisan organization and does not take a position for or against any individual political party. Our mission is to promote children’s rights and influence all political decision-makers, regardless of party affiliation.

Our election platform is a document in which we outline our most important policy proposals ahead of the parliamentary election. It describes the social issues we identify, the changes we want to achieve, and the decisions we believe policymakers need to make. For Erikshjälpen, it’s about highlighting children’s rights and influencing policymakers to prioritize issues that make a difference for children—both in Sweden and around the world.
