Vote for the children in the general election

We are now asking you to vote for the children—and the world they dream of. Here is a summary of Erikshjälpen’s 2026 election platform ahead of the parliamentary election in September.

Every child's rights

Every child has the right to a safe upbringing, a sustainable future, and a say in the decisions that affect their lives. But the reality is quite different—both in Sweden and around the world. Children are disproportionately affected by climate change, grow up in an insecure environment, and are impacted by political decisions that all too often fail to take children’s perspectives into account.

Erikshjälpen's Election Platform – In Brief

The election manifesto outlines four key issues that we want policymakers to prioritize in order to strengthen children’s rights, reduce inequality, and contribute to sustainable development—in Sweden and around the world.

Put children at the heart of climate policy

Children are hit hardest by the climate crisis, but their needs and rights are given too little consideration in political decision-making. Erikshjälpen wants to see a bold climate transition in which the child’s perspective is integrated into both decision-making and Funding, and in which children are given the opportunity to participate.

Strengthen children’s right to a safe and equitable upbringing

In Sweden, we are seeing growing disparities in the conditions under which children and young people grow up. Erikshjälpen wants policymakers to prioritize preventive interventions young people and strengthen support for families. Civil society must be included as a key player that can give children and young people the opportunity to participate.

Accelerate the circular transition

Today’s consumption patterns are driving both the climate crisis and inequality. Erikshjälpen calls for clearer policy guidance and investments that accelerate the transition to a circular economy reduce harmful overconsumption.

Be a strong voice for the most vulnerable

In a world marked by increasing climate change, conflict, and migration, Sweden needs to be a strong voice for the most vulnerable. Erikshjälpen wants Sweden to resume a leading role with a focus on children and ensure that aid reaches children even in the most vulnerable and conflict-affected countries.
