13.20 - Children's (in)equal access to rights
Elisabeth Dahlin, Swedish Ombudsman for Children, on what needs to be done to fulfill children's rights. All children have the right to safe growing conditions and to develop to their full potential. We know that children belonging to particularly vulnerable groups have less access to their rights than other children.

1:50 p.m. – A Safe Upbringing for All Children – Vision or Reality?
Frida Lygnegård, a child development researcher and professor at the University of Jönköping , reflects on the challenge of enabling children to grow and reach their full potential in times of budget cuts. Frida will also address the question of to what extent adults allow children’s own experiences to influence decisions regarding their health and living conditions.

14.15 - UN recommendations to Sweden, what does it mean for us?
Åsa Ekman, children's rights consultant and author, concretizes some of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child's recommendations to the Swedish government. Sweden was recently criticized by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, what does this mean for us who work regionally and locally? The lecture sends questions and areas to work on in your organization.

4:00 p.m. – What is it like for children to grow up with a family member who is incarcerated? Through film clips from the play “What No One Can Know About Dad,” the audience gets a sense of what it can be like to grow up with a parent in prison. The play is based on actress Aja Rodas’s childhood and is part of a project funded by the Arvsfonden and run by the organization “ Solrosen ” at Göteborg.

5:30 p.m. – Candlelight Vigil for Children’s Rights, Rådhusparken Jönköping
You’re welcome to join Jönköping Municipality’s annual candlelight vigil for children’s rights. Leading up to the vigil, children in the municipality will learn about children’s rights while making a lantern for the event.
