Children's right to safety and protection

Erikshjälpen works for all children's right to safety and protection, to influence and change the fact that many children in the world are suffering. Our goal is that all children should be able to live a life in safety.

Why safety and security are important

Safety is not just a feeling - it is a right. Children who do not have access to safe and secure environments are at risk of violence, abuse and other forms of danger, which can have serious consequences for their physical and mental health and well-being.

Lack of safety and protection prevents children from accessing education, health and other basic rights. By promoting children's right to safety and protection, we can help create a better future for individual children but also for society as a whole.

How we work on safety and security

  • We inform schoolchildren about their rights and where to turn in case of threats or if they are already victims of violence and abuse.
  • We lobby authorities to ensure that laws and regulations provide effective protection for children.
  • We develop models of how people can organize themselves to prevent children from being put at risk.
  • We work to break old traditions and ingrained patterns that pose threats to children.
  • We are always on the side of children and protect their rights, whatever the effort or wherever in the world it is needed.
  • We work for the right of all children to grow up in a safe family and not in an institution like an orphanage.
