For Christine Eriksson, writing a will was a matter of course. It was equally obvious to include us in your Will all movable property to Erikshjälpen.
Christine Eriksson from Ydre wrote her will with her husband in 2011. At the time, their joint possessions were not something they gave much thought to. But when her husband passed away in 2013, Christine started thinking about what would happen to all her belongings after his death.
- When we were both alive, we didn't think about the loot. But when I became lonely, I started thinking about what will happen to everything when I pass away," says Christine.
The thoughts continued until 2017. Then Christine saw an ad in Tranås Tidning that Erikshjälpen could help with household effects from estates. Just a small ad, but with a big message. She immediately contacted Erikshjälpen and made an addition to her will where all movable property is donated to Erikshjälpen.
- Thanks to that addition, Erikshjälpen will take care of everything in my home after my death. It was a great relief for me and it gives me enormous satisfaction to know that I am helping through my will. Erikshjälpen works with children's rights all over the world and I can be sure that the proceeds from the estate will go to the children," she says.
Christine and her husband met late in life and neither of them had any heirs. However, they both had relatives on either side of them in different generations. This made the choice to make a will an obvious one for both of them.
- Writing a will is the most important thing there is. In our will, it was clearly stated that I was the one who disposed of the assets after my husband's death. It makes things much easier for the relatives and means that there are no disputes. Everything is already decided how it should be," says Christine.
Movable assets are assets such as furniture and other household items like cars and boats. However, money, Securities, real estate and other intangible assets are not movable property.
At the time, when Christine read the small ad in the newspaper, she didn't know much about Erikshjälpen's work. Not much more than that Erikshjälpen works to do good in the world. Since then, her commitment has grown and today Christine is a regular donor and well acquainted with Erikshjälpen's interventions around the world.
- I admire the work that Erikshjälpen does and often think about how Erik Nilsson started everything once upon a time. His wife Ulla wrote a book about Erikshjälpen that has influenced me a lot. My impression is that Erikshjälpen is a very serious organization and it is precisely the seriousness that appeals to me and creates confidence.
