Ukraine

Following Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, 2.2 million children are in need of urgent relief aid. Many children are fleeing alone and are at risk of suffering long-term psychological trauma. Since February 2022, 745 children have been killed and more than 2,300 injured, according to the UN.

This is what Erikshjälpen is focusing on in Ukraine

Together with local partner organisations , we partner organisations safety and protection to children and families through emergency aid and acute psychosocial support.

Here's what Erikshjälpen is doing in Ukraine

  • Psychosocial support for children and families
  • Child-friendly family hubs where children can spend time together in their free time and also make up for missed school days.
  • We support children in taking their own initiatives to improve and build up their communities.
  • We support training programs for parents and teachers so that they, in turn, can support children's mental health and help them overcome trauma.
  • We support social workers, psychologists, educators, and police officers who handle cases of violence against children, including sexual violence.
  • We provide families with vital support against the cold by distributing blankets, warm clothing, LED lights, thermoses, food, and space heaters. We also distribute power banks that allow children to charge their phones and computers so they can participate in remote learning at school even during power outages.
