Many children in India start school. The biggest challenge is keeping them in school. In many areas, children drop out during the transition from elementary school to higher grades. Girls are usually the hardest hit. There are several reasons for this, such as long distances to school, lack of access to toilets during menstruation, child marriage, and child labor.
