Many children in India start school. The biggest challenge is keeping them in school. In many areas, children drop out during the transition from elementary school to higher grades. Girls are usually the hardest hit. There are several reasons for this, such as long distances to school, lack of access to toilets during menstruation, child marriage, and child labor.

Erikshjälpen contributes to, among other things:

• more children's right to education, health, safety, and protection.
• that children come together in children’s parliaments where they learn about their rights and have the opportunity to exercise those rights through civic engagement activities.
• measures to prevent natural disasters through food security and risk reduction.
• that children who have been abused receive support and feel safer.
