Erikshjälpen works in Bangladesh, India, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
In Asia, we work with local partner organisations using an integrated approach that strengthens children's rights to education and leisure, health, safety and protection. The people affected by our interventions in the region learn about their rights, while also learning how to hold authorities and other duty bearers accountable.
As climate change and disasters hit the region with recurring floods and cyclones, we are working on building resilience in local communities and risk reduction.
Erikshjälpen also responds to humanitarian crises that occur in affected countries in the region.
Erikshjälpen is based in the regional office in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh with staff also in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world and experiences difficulties such as child marriage and child labor, as well as lack of access to healthcare and education for children.
In Bangladesh, Erikshjälpen works to ensure that children have access to health, education, safety and protection. In communities that are constantly threatened by floods, residents are equipped with disaster preparedness and improve their living conditions for better resilience in terms of, for example, recurring floods.

Although India's economy has improved recently, with most children enrolled in school, the number of children dropping out of school remains high in many areas, due to factors such as early pregnancy, child marriage and child labor.
In India, Erikshjälpen therefore works to make vulnerable groups aware of their rights and how they can change their situation.

In Cambodia, the authorities have developed frameworks and guidelines on children's rights but implementation has been lacking.
Our work in Cambodia focuses, among other things, on issues such as education and rehabilitation for children who have been trafficked or abused.

Laos is a country with many challenges. Following a lack of commitment from the authorities that led to high levels of drug dependency in the country, women but especially children have been seriously affected. As children are forced to work, both in the household and by contributing to the family's livelihood, the number of children dropping out of school and being married off increases.
Erikshjälpen's work in Laos focuses on the northern parts of the country. The focus is on children's right to education, health, safety and protection.
Erikshjälpen contributes to, among other things:
Myanmar is heavily affected by the internal armed conflict and faces many challenges to ensure a safe environment for its citizens.
Erikshjälpen's work in Myanmar focuses on promoting children's right to safety and protection, as well as education and health. As armed conflicts are ongoing, humanitarian interventions are also carried out with a focus on children's rights.
