Erikshjälpen's child box has long helped children in care situations. As of January 2024, the sale of Erikshjälpen's baby box will be paused indefinitely.
Over the years, the box contained various products and could be ordered at cost price by hospitals, health centers, child care centers, school health services and dental clinics. The products were also well suited to be used to de-dramatize visits to, for example, child and adolescent health care and child and adolescent psychiatry or to relieve nervousness in a waiting room. Erikshjälpen's children's box was developed in recent years in good cooperation with Bamse (publisher Story House Egmont), which developed a sustainable content in the box.
Children's feelings before a visit to the hospital can be many - and frightening. Erik Nilsson, the founder of Erikshjälpen, knew this when he spent much of his childhood in hospital. There he met other sick children who were in the same situation as himself.
In the hospital bed, a dream was born that Erik could be there to encourage the other children. Once back home in Ruda, the idea came to life and Erik started sending greetings and gifts as encouragement.
Word spread, with the help of Sven Jerring's popular radio program Barnens Brevlåda, about what Erik was doing and soon more people were contributing money and toys. The organization Erikshjälpen became a fact. Since then, Erikshjälpen has continued to grow and develop to become a child rights organisation that strengthens and helps children in vulnerable life situations around the world.
