In many countries around the world, there are children's clubs and children's parliaments where children have the chance to participate and have a say. Here you can meet friends Roshni and Choti who are part of a children's parliament in their spare time. You can also read Erikshjälpen Rafiki's buddy code.
According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, all children have the right to express their views and adults should always listen to children. A children's club or children's parliament is a good way for children to be involved and express their thoughts and opinions. Children also learn about their rights and do good things for themselves and other children. All children can participate. Children's clubs and parliaments are also a way for children to meet friends.
Roshni and Choti are two friends who go to school in eastern India. They are in different classes, but in their spare time they are in the same Children's Parliament. In the children's parliament, they learn about children's rights and how they can make things better for other children. They can also get help with homework and do fun things together.
In addition to playing, getting help with homework and learning about their rights, the children in the parliament also get the chance to help other children. For example, if a child in the village stops going to school, the other children help and encourage the child to come back. Sometimes they go by and pick up their friend on the way to school. If the child has problems at home or at school, they help and talk to adults.
It's being a true friend - making sure that all children enjoy their rights.
Rafiki has created a picture of things that show what children can do to be a good friend.
