Skandinaviska Läkarbanken is a non-profit organization whose goal is to work from a Christian worldview with a focus on giving people in low-income countries* increased access to health care that is characterized by good quality, conducted according to science and proven experience.
Every year, the Scandinavian Medical Bank sends around 50 doctors and other healthcare specialists to various partner hospitals, often mission hospitals, in countries such as Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, South Sudan and Nepal. The missions can also be emergency operations after earthquakes or other disasters.
Skandinaviska Läkarbanken cooperates with Erikshjälpen in South Sudan, through a joint office in Sweden and through the fact that Skandinaviska Läkarbanken's coordinator is employed by Erikshjälpen. Skandinaviska Läkarbanken also cooperates with Rotary Doctors Sweden.
*In these statutes, low-income countries are those classified by the World Bank as "low-income and lower-middle-income economies".
