Operations Manager the store in Jönköping

Erikshjälpen is looking for an operations manager for its store in Jönköping. If you want to help realize children's rights by leading the work together with your management team in the store, this is the role for you. We welcome your application!

Erikshjälpen is a child rights organisation a non-profit second-hand business. We work in 16 countries, including Sweden, and we run around 50 stores under Erikshjälpen Second Hand Sweden, Norway, and online. We work according to the vision "A changed world where children's dreams come true." Our mission is to combat poverty and vulnerability by realizing children's rights around the world.

In Jönköping, the store is run in collaboration between Pingst Jönköping and Erikshjälpen Second Hand. The Pentecostal congregation in Jönköping was founded in 1924 and has approximately 2,300 members. The congregation's vision is to convey faith, hope, and love in our time. The congregation has extensive social/diaconal work locally and globally. For example, it offers meeting places and networks for single parents. The congregation's members are also involved as volunteers in the second-hand store.

Description of the project

As operations manager, you are responsible for the day-to-day running of the store, ensuring that set surplus, social, and environmental targets are met. Your task is to work with store staff to receive donated goods, prepare them, and sell them in the store.

You are responsible for personnel and the work environment, where you plan, process, and develop your own store, employees, and market.

You are responsible for the deputy operations manager, supervisors, store employees, volunteers, and people who perform work trials, activities, or other employment through government agencies.

 

Operational objectives

The surplus mission: To sell donated goods that generate funds for social and humanitarian interventions Erikshjälpen.

Social mission: To give people living in social or economic vulnerability an opportunity to find paths to personal development through community, job training and internships.

Environmental mission: To promote and develop the reuse of donated goods that contribute to environmentally sustainable development and a more efficient use of the Earth's resources.

Work tasks

Examples of work tasks:

  • You lead the store and store management towards set goals.
  • Helps to create efficient flows in the store.
  • Plans and develops work in the store and preparation.
  • The position involves overall organizational and administrative work but also daily work in the store.
  • You contribute to and create job satisfaction in the store.
  • You are responsible for staff and the working environment.
  • You will act as the face of the shop and have contacts with partners, donors and customers.
  • You lead, inspire, and motivate supervisors, employees, volunteers, and people who perform work training, activities, or other employment through government agencies. In this way, you also contribute to fulfilling our social goal of helping people develop their abilities.

Qualifications

You

  • have solid experience in store operations and people management, preferably in retail or specialized trade
  • have financial skills and understanding
  • have post-secondary education or experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • shares our core values, which are based on three basic principles: the spirit of Erik, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and a Christian view of humanity.

 

It is an advantage if you have

  • an interest in aid and second-hand work
  • experience from working with people with special needs
  • familiarity with digital systems, including the Office suite.
