Programme Director the International Department

Erikshjälpen is a child rights organisation a nonprofit secondhand business. Together, we share a common vision: a better where children’s dreams come true.

We work to combat poverty and vulnerability by promoting children's rights in 16 countries. In Sweden, children's rights work is mainly carried out through Erikshjälpen Framtidsverkstad, in close collaboration with our second-hand stores. In total, we operate around 50 Erikshjälpen Second Hand in Sweden and Norway. One of Erikshjälpen Second Hand's missions is to generate as much surplus possible for the children's rights organization Erikshjälpen.

Work tasks

• Overall responsibility for personnel, finance, and operations within Erikshjälpen’s International Programs Department, as well as the regional offices in East Africa, West Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Personnel responsibility includes direct supervision of regional managers, unit managers, and support functions at headquarters.
• Overall responsibility for current change processes, quality assurance strategy development within the international department.
• Overall responsibility for policy, methodology, and learning within international program activities.
• A member of Erikshjälpen’s executive team, reporting to Secretary-General.
• The assignment also includes travel to Regional offices, partner organizations, and projects supported by Erikshjälpen.

Who are we looking for?

• You have a college degree in International development, global studies, human rights, or another equivalent field deemed relevant to the position.
• You have experience in international development cooperation.
• You have experience in children’s rights, international aid, and a rights-based approach.
• You have several years of experience in human resources management and leading through managers.
• You have experience in change and development initiatives, as well as a strong understanding of cultural differences.
• You have an interest in international affairs and in staying informed about current events.
• You have excellent written and spoken English skills.
• You lead others by clearly delegating tasks and assigning mandates and responsibilities. You have strong written and verbal communication skills. You are a team player and excel at building relationships.
• As a leader and manager, you are clear and drive the organization forward.
• You will help shape the entire Erikshjälpen organization and its work together with the rest of the management team.
• We expect you to share Erikshjälpen’s Christian values.

Preferred

• Multilingualism.
• Experience, involvement, or roles in nonprofit organisations.

Terms and conditions

Employment Type: This is a full-time, permanent position and may be subject to a 6-month probationary period.
