About Erikshjälpen

Erikshjälpen is a child rights organisation a non-profit second-hand business. Together, we share a common vision: a changed world where children's dreams come true.

We work to combat poverty and vulnerability by promoting children's rights in 16 countries. In Sweden, children's rights work is mainly carried out through Erikshjälpen Framtidsverkstad, in close collaboration with our second-hand stores. In total, we operate around 50 Erikshjälpen Second Hand in Sweden and Norway. One of Erikshjälpen Second Hand's missions is to generate as much surplus possible for the children's rights organization Erikshjälpen.

In Vänersborg, the store is run in collaboration between the Pentecostal Church in Vänersborg and Erikshjälpen.

Description of the service

The store currently has an operations manager, four supervisors (one of whom is retiring) and a number of dedicated store employees. As a supervisor, you are an operational leader and strive to optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality. You will play an important role in achieving the store's set goals: our surplus goal, social goals, and environmental goals.

No two days are alike, so as a supervisor, we expect you to be flexible, take charge of what needs to be done, and enjoy varied work.

Work tasks

Examples of work tasks:

  • As part of the management team, together with the store's employees, participate in and lead the daily work, focusing on sales and operations in the store.
  • You will act as a supervisor for employees, volunteers and people carrying out work trials, activities or other employment through government agencies.
  • Together with the management team, you are responsible for sales and exposure of gifts.
  • Joint responsibility for the store during opening hours, including store management on certain evenings and Saturdays.
  • You will report to the Head of Operations.

Qualifications

You have

  • post-secondary education, or work experience, deemed relevant to the assignment
  • experience of leadership/work management
  • experience working in a store, preferably in retail
  • interest in aid and social work, as well as secondhand goods

You are

  • A confident leader with the ability to meet and build relationships with people in different life situations and contexts. Customers and employees!
  • ready to use your knowledge in sales to lead the business towards our goals
  • self-motivated, responsible and enjoys working in a goal-oriented and structured way
  • a team player who finds it easy to cooperate
  • Solution-oriented and able to work toward the big picture based on set goals, to develop and drive the business forward
  • anchored in Erikshjälpen's core values, which are based on three fundamental principles: a Christian view of humanity, Erik's spirit, and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

It would be an advantage if

  • you have relevant experience of working with people from different ethnic backgrounds and/or with different functional abilities
  • you have experience working in secondhand stores
