Moa wants to end injustice in the world

Moa thinks it's unfair that not all people in the world have it equally good. Moa also thinks it is important to be kind to everyone, including the environment. Moa thinks everyone can do something to help make a difference.

In the town of Panajachel where she lives, there are many rich people who have nice vacation homes on the large Lake Atitlán. There are also many poor people who live in simple houses without indoor running water. Many children have to work from early in the morning until late at night to earn money for their families. Moa tells us:

- If I could, I would collect all the money that everyone has and distribute it equally to everyone. Then no one would have more than anyone else. Many people can't buy anything at all while others are rich.

They surprised a classmate

Moa has lived in Guatemala for three years. She has a Swedish mother and a Spanish father. Moa goes to an international school where she is learning to speak English. At school, the teachers talk a lot about how important it is to be kind to everyone, even those who are not your best friends.

There was a boy in Moa's class who turned ten. He had never celebrated his birthday because his family had no money.

- For his birthday, my friends and I surprised him. Our parents had collected money and bought him a football. Then we had pizza at a place. Those pizzas are really good.

Everyone can do something

Both at school and at home, Moa talks a lot about how important it is to be kind to the environment.

- Don't waste water, for example by taking too long a shower. You should also wash your hands quickly and not brush your teeth with the water on. Sometimes we run out of water at home.

Moa knows that when children learn about the world, they can make a difference. Even if a person can't do everything, they can start with small things where they live.

- You should not throw litter on the ground. If there is no trash can where you are, put the trash in your pocket. There is a lot of rubbish on the ground here and there are not many bins.

We should be kind to each other

- If someone doesn't have any friends, you can be their friend so that they don't feel alone. And you should not say bad things about each other. Or fight.

Moa and her classmates usually play KING at break time. Then everyone can join in.
