We asked children in India what they do in their free time. Some like to watch movies or play Kabaddi, while other children have almost no free time at all. Many children in India need to help their parents at home.
The children in India often play hide-and-seek, litter, jump rope and play marbles. They also play cricket, football, basketball, kabaddi and kho-kho. These games take place both in the schoolyard and at home. Sometimes the children just walk around and talk to each other. Both in the countryside and in the city, many children like to watch movies on TV.
After school, children go home and eat. Then they help look after the family cows, goats or crops. When homework is done, they can meet friends or play with their siblings.
Most children in Ranchi go to school. After school, they usually have free time, but some have to work. Many help at home with washing dishes, shopping or cooking.
Some children take extra lessons. Others meet friends, play games on their cell phones, play with their siblings, go for walks or listen to music. Just like in Sweden, they like to listen to their favorite artists.
Kabaddi is a game thousands of years old that has become a popular sport. In India, it is so popular that it attracts more spectators than a football World Cup. Kabaddi is played by both girls and boys, both outside on gravel courts and indoors in sports halls.
Two teams each have one half of the pitch. One player runs into the opponents' side while the others hold hands. The player must hold their breath and say "kabaddi, kabaddi, kabaddi" all the time. The aim is to touch as many opponents as possible before having to take another breath.
But beware! If you take a breath before you're back on your side, you might get caught.
